I am thrilled to share with you that Orlando tourism had another record year in 2016, welcoming a total 68 million visitors and once again ensuring our position as the most visited destination in the nation! Visit Orlando announced this milestone just yesterday at our annual luncheon celebrating National Travel and Tourism Week.
As a creative way to say thank you to these visitors, we also launched a destination-wide thank you campaign that has never before been done. Visit Orlando worked with the tourism industry and community leaders to hand-write 3,144 personal thank you cards and officially set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for most thank you cards collected in one day. The cards will be mailed to actual visitors who supported the destination in 2016.
The event kicked off a Visit Orlando campaign - #OrlandosBIGThankYou - that will run through the remainder of the year to thank millions of guests for their support through hand-written cards, Visit Orlando's social media channels, marketing communications, destination websites and member programs.
